proposal for technologies used in evaluation

This is my proposal for the type of technolgies i will be using, helping me to plan my evaluation effectively. To make it better i planned it on a technolgy because it makes it more professional and effective. To improve this next time i would add more detail about why i will use this particular technolgy for each question.

This is the original draft for answer for my evaluation where i have written and analysed every detail of my magazine and the reason for each technique used.I was able to write this evaluation from the previous evaluation i done for my college magazine. To improve this next time i would use more images and do a mind map of a typical reader that would read my velvet magazine, adding fb links etc to the magazine.

Task 10: Audience feedback

This is my audience feedback task where I commented on three members in my class's music magazine pointing out weaknesses and strengths I print screened their work to show what I am talking about, I print screened my comment for evidence that I had commented and iv'e noted some extra comments that they could consider doing or improving.

This is my final front page after  my audience feedback I have developed this further in detail. And changed the fonts so they're all the same i have changed the masthead becuase it didn't look serious before and the rest of my features was serious.

Final contents page

This is my final contents page. I have added three images to back up my features and regulars and to also promote these pages. My contents page includes an editors note also to give the audience a personal viw from the editor about the role of editing this magazine/  issue.

This is my final piece of my double page spread i have changed the group feature into a feature with a solo artist because i believe it is more effective and can be portrayed better. I have used the same fonts as the front cover and contents page.  To make the style consistent and relatable.

This is my finished contents page. I have put it in the middle of the page to make it different from other music magazines even rock magazines. I have used my other images of my other models also in another angle. To improve this next time I would use more images and maybe do a double page of contents.

This is my finished contents page I am not sure if I will pursue this as my final piece just yet, as I might change this around slightly if so they would be shown on blogger. To improve this I think id need to change the position of the image on the left. or position everything in the middle of the page to make it more unique and different.

This is the start of my music magazine, I have changed the pictures around and the style of "Contents". This is a better improved version of the first draft, to improve this next time I would need to complete it completely.

This is the first draft of my contents page, it is not permanent and is not finished. To develop this more I would increase the main image size, and change the main image picture as it is pixelated and not relevant to the main cover star on the front cover.

This is my front cover for my rock music magazine. I have used a basic masthead with an edge to it so its simple and the main image of the cover star stands out better/more. The colour of my models wardrobe is the same colour I have tried to make my masthead and strapline.
I have used white cover lines as they stand out on the black background. my pull quote is associated with what the journalism on the dps is about. using their band name small and next to the quote to portray who they are. My image is also wearing something similar to velvet which is a rock aspect as most people would velvet to be worn by rock fanatics or singers. I have used the lead singer in my front cover instead of the whole group because in my case studies of kerrang they did the same thing with paramour and it was very effective as it leaves the reader thinking why.  To improve this next time I would use a better image and make my masthead more complex.

Contact sheet

These are the strong images I took that i would consider to use on my music magazine. I would use these images because they relate to rock and are angled effectively. I have group images of the band and single images of every band member that i would expect to use on my contents page. To improve this next time i would make the wardrobe better and the shots using more portrait shots.

I used the images of the girl in velvet because she gave the magazine a more professional look as shes wearing velvet it contrasts with the theme of the magazine. I used the other images in the contents page as additional singers. As i developed them from being a group band to a solo artist as those pictures struck out to me more than the others. To improve this next time i would change the clothing of the other models and take pictures of them from a low angle to make them look superior and mighty.

Dps on illustrator

These are the pull quotes i will put in my magazine in my dps. I would use pull quotes because it draws the readers in because they are the actual words of the artists showing that the Q+A isn't made up. I had done this on illustrator to stretch the letters creating the outlines to do so. To improve this next time i would use better fonts that are readable and related to the genre of my music magazines. These designs are not final i might change the design in the making of my magazine but i would probably still use these quotes from the artists.

Research of images

This is my research of images. These are the types of shots i will be taking for music magazine. This helps me decide what is effective for my music magazine and what isnt as effective for my genre of my music magazine. To improve this next time i would put my images next to these images to see how they are similar and the difference it would make in a rock theme. This is also the shots that i researched in order for me to get better camera shots for my photoshoot as i wanted it to look professional. I used a medium shot, long, close up shot and extreme close ups. As these shots work best for the genre of my magazine and the target audience of velvet magazine.

Doing this I learnt how to vary my ideas on what the contents page will look like and the main design of the simple "contents" title. Because my masthead is red I decided to keep the same style going, however I did try out white and black just to see what it would look like and how its different from the red. To improve this next time I would use images in the background or make it look the texture of actual velvet referring to the company of the music magazine.

This is my plan of images in this I learnt what my images and text will look like where they will be placed and what the effect will be. however some people may disagree it is an arguable mind map of decisions of what I could do instead of minimising  myself to just one option. To improve this I would use other images of the rock magazines to show where I got my references from.

Analysis of indesign

I analysed in design because it is one of the media software I used to produce this article. This helps me in case I need to use in design in the future for my music magazine. I used a variety of tools and learnt a lot like how to layer the article as mentioned above and how to use text and chage font style and colour which is also mentioned above.

In my call sheet I evaluated what would be happening in the studio. I done this to help plan what will happen how it will go according to time and the three models. The name of my company / music magazine is positioned on the top right to advertise my magazine more and make it reliable.

Photography workshop:

• I learnt how to use a DSLR Nikon camera in a photography studio.
• I learnt that there is a black and white backdrop sheet I could use for the background of my images creating different moods and effects.
• I learnt how to use the Flashlights and other additional lights on the soft box's.
• I learnt about the different types of settings that we could use.
• I learnt that the soft box diffuses the light and softens the light.
• I learnt how to use the cones
• The highest on the soft box is 6 and the lowest is 2. it goes up and down in decimals. for example 1.3, 1.2..
• I learnt what a Gordox is which is a infrared remote control used to transmit on camera to receive the light. Both of them should be set on flash.
• I learnt how to use the reflectors. which are silver and gold, including the silver and black umbrellas giving out different types of light.
• I learnt that the light stands are used to reflect the light.
• I learnt that taken my first shot I should set the camera to A= automatic.
• I learnt that M= manual
• I learnt that A= aperture priority, keeping the foreground in focus.
• I learnt that S= Shutter priority
• I learnt that the depth of field is in the foreground focus.
• I learnt to take black and white images at first in order to vary my images giving me a variety to pick from making them al different and contrasting.
• I learnt that my model would have to stand 6ft away from the backdrop in order for the image not to blend in and get tampered with from the colour of the backdrop.

In the photography workshop i learnt how to use the camera effectively so i could use it properly when taking my pictures. The teacher teaching us was very informative and guided us with the latest new equipment that they provided Overall he told us How to use it, why you should use it, the lighting, flash, backdrop, positions.

Magazine Proposal

In my magazine proposal i was given Audience feedback about what i should choose to be my masthead, coverline, what colour schemes work and what doesn't work. overall he masthead chosen is Velvet as it associates with the genre of rock as it involves the mise en scene of the type of clothing they would typically wear. The Publisher chosen was Bauer media group as they have an international success from their other music magazines. The colour scheme that was most popular was the second one and the last one as they are typical rock colours and they contrast together well.
